Went down to dig some more, ground is pretty hard, needs rain. I would have preferred the rain in advance of my visit, rather than during the digging. It chucked it down so I had to knock it on the head after an hour and a half. Some of the dock roots must have been 50-70cm long and really tough to get out, hopefully I am getting them all out. The bed I dug today will need forking over and re-weeding for remaining couch roots etc after it's had a few days rain on it to loosen the soil a bit.
Got a free apple tree (2 y.o.) from an abandoned plot which is a result. They cost about £15. I've put it in the bottom r-h corner as a temporary measure, it'll go up the back left nearer the plum trees and fruit bushes.
Saw a Grey Wagtail out of the kitchen window. They normally like fast flowing streams, perhaps it's lost.
